Tablet PC and Ink-Enabled Application Development

Subject:  The topic of this session will introduce the Tablet PC platform, including the API, software designed specifically for the Tablet, and different types of form factors now available. Central to the Tablet PC platform is Digital Ink, a vector based graphic format that leverages the stylus input. The topic will cover Tablet PC Specific Controls made available by the SDK and how to ink-enable existing applications, as well as UI considerations for this new form factor. Finally, we'll talk about the future of Tablet PC technologies, including the Origami/UMPC projects and digital ink in WPF (Avalon)

Frank has developed systems ranging from client-side applications to web based applications. He has worked in Java, C#, T-SQL, PL/SQL, PERL, XML, and Visual Basic.NET. During the course of his career, he has developed software solutions for such firms as Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, BASF Corporation, and KPMG. While at Deutsche Bank, he directed a team of developers and coordinated the design and implementation of Java servlet modules in ATG Dynamo for a 500 million Euro multinational retail banking portal project.

Since 2003, he has shifted his efforts towards the .NET Framework and has already worked on several major .NET projects, including an electronic shareholder voting system, web authentication service, and a Tablet PC based medical data entry system. Recently, Frank received the MVP Award from Microsoft in Tablet PC.
